It would bean exaggeration to say we had rabbit to eat every day when we were kids but it certainly formed a goodly percentage of our diet After all there were thousands of them running around for free and most of the farmers were only too pleased for my father to go out and catch them. Pete's dad had much the same arrangement in Ryme lntrinseca. Occasionally the odd pheasant would wander into dads wires as well but the most unusual catch was a large male tabby cat which he quickly released and brought home. 'Stripes' stayed with us for years and became a much-loved member of the family.
