In the Digby Tap in Sherborne this used to be simply known as 'Walt's Song' because Walt Watts was the only one allowed to sing it there. It was his party piece and, after a couple of pints, he could usually be persuaded to give a rendition. When he did, the pub would go quiet and everyone would listen in reverential silence as old Walt sang with that cheeky twinkle in his eye. I doubt if the song has been heard in the Tap since Walt passed on but we still sing it in memory of a great little character.
