It gives me great pleasure to record this song which was collected from Marina Russell of Upwey by the Hammond Brothers in 1907. She was born Marina Sartin and came from the village of Corscombe which was our family home for about 300 years. When she started to sing she was, apparently, unstoppable. She had a huge repertoire but unfortunately the Hammond's seem to have arrived 5 years too late. Marina was on the wain when they met her. Of the 100 or so songs she sang there are few that she could manage all the way through. 'Farewell She' is one of the best and it has been recorded by several people. I wonder if I could claim family royalties?
