Banks fo Newfoundland Cassette to CD In 1984 we recorded The Banks of Newfoundland, an historical/musical illustration of the contacts between Dorset and Newfoundland with particular reference to the port of Poole. I have eventually found a machine that will take the recording from the cassette and pump them into the computer without warping the notes of the concertina and fiddle. (This saga has been going on for quite a while and I've sent varuous machines back). The result is that I can now make CDs of the tape if you would lie one. £6 each inc. post & packing, cheques to 'The Yetties'. Address Downside, Sheeplands Lane, Sherborne, Dorset, DT9 4BW. |
Life has been busy commuting between Sherborne and Henley on Thames the last 10 weeks but all is going OK now with young Noah Sartin. Hopefully he will be out of hospital in a couple of weeks time. He's now over 6lbs and, as the nurses will tell you, his lungs have improved no end. |
We have been prevailed upon to run a Christmas Music Night at the Weavers Club, Sherborne. A few Carols, songs and music from various artists. See Events column. |
Pete and I have just returned from a weekend at Halsway Manor. It was an all singing, dancing and larking about 48 hours. A bit of Morris Dancing as well, music workshops with Pete, Becky Driscoll and Nick Wyke. Everybody brings their party piece to the party and I don't think I've laughed so much for years. Here's to next year, same time, same place. If you are interested in joining the fun and games give Halsway a ring and chat to Viv on 01984 618274. |

Young Noah Sartin is progressing well. Apart from his lungs, for which he needs a little oxygen, he is a bouncy, happy boy. He has already saved Cynthia and I from the floods. We were going north for a break when he arrived and had to change our plans. It's just as well this happened because the area we were going to had horrendous floods. |
It's now 18 months since we retired and those months have gone in a complete whirl. I keep thinking that in a few weeks time there will be some breathing space but somehow that doesn't seem to happen. Mind you I have forgotten what it's like to be tired and the decisions aren't so pressing. Today for instance I have to decide whether to pick the apples or the raspberries firt. Phew!!! |
We've been finding some spectacularly large slugs in the garden with all the wet weather. Hence the following: |
