Bonny Grandad again Noah Jack Sartin was born on the 28th of May. He couldn't wait to come into the world and arrived 13 weeks early. Fortunately the staff at Reading Hospital and John Radcliffe in Oxford were absolutely brilliant and the lad is doing OK. He is tiddly small but in there fighting. Grandad is hanging on in there too. If Noah turns out like his elder brother we're not going to be short of entertainment in the next few years. |
Bonny, Happy Grandad Life has been busy commuting between Sherborne and Henley on Thames the last 10 weeks but all is going OK now with young Noah Sartin. Hopefully he will be out of hospital in a couple of weeks time. He's now over 6lbs and, as the nurses will tell you, his lungs have improved no end. |
Christmas Music Night We have been prevailed upon to run a Christmas Music Night at the Weavers Club, Sherborne. A few Carols, songs and music from various artists. See Events column. |
HALSWAY MANOR Pete and I have just returned from a weekend at Halsway Manor. It was an all singing, dancing and larking about 48 hours. A bit of Morris Dancing as well, music workshops with Pete, Becky Driscoll and Nick Wyke. Everybody brings their party piece to the party and I don't think I've laughed so much for years. Here's to next year, same time, same place. If you are interested in joining the fun and games give Halsway a ring and chat to Viv on 01984 618274. |
Noah's Progress Young Noah Sartin is progressing well. Apart from his lungs, for which he needs a little oxygen, he is a bouncy, happy boy. He has already saved Cynthia and I from the floods. We were going north for a break when he arrived and had to change our plans. It's just as well this happened because the area we were going to had horrendous floods. |
Retirement It's now 18 months since we retired and those months have gone in a complete whirl. I keep thinking that in a few weeks time there will be some breathing space but somehow that doesn't seem to happen. Mind you I have forgotten what it's like to be tired and the decisions aren't so pressing. Today for instance I have to decide whether to pick the apples or the raspberries firt. Phew!!! |
Slugs We've been finding some spectacularly large slugs in the garden with all the wet weather. Hence the following:
If you want to grow flowers like delphinium
You must keep slugs to a minimum
In my garden fair
They're getting quite rare
Since I started bashin' and striminum
I suppose, if you look on the bright side, they save having to buy sausages for the barbecue.
